What is PakSA

Pakistani Student Association or PakSA of UMBC was co-founded by Yahya Zia and Esmat Lakhani in the fall of 2008. Yahya became the first president of PakSA and Esmat its first secretary. PakSA represents Pakistan’s traditions and culture in the University of Maryland Baltimore County. The main purpose of the organization is to familiarize and educate the UMBC student body and everyone else about the nation of Pakistan and its colorful culture. The club enlightens the four provinces of Pakistan, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Sarhad. It brings forth the exquisite taste of Pakistani food. It represents all the music, culture, and traditions of Pakistan. The purpose of PakSA is to provide positive exposure to the culture and traditions of Pakistan. We believe that through the interactions of PakSA with our scholastic community we can assimilate the best qualities that are nested within Pakistan. We believe the diffusion of different cultures enriches all of our lives, and for this purpose PakSA will attempt to provide positive exposure to the lifestyles of the people of Pakistan, both native and abroad.

PakSA’s main events include: PakSA night, Eid formal,Eid Mela, Fall Ball, and Bhangra Night. Each of other minor events will take place accordingly to its cultural and religious aspect.

Disclaimer: PakSA in no way differentiate between race, sex, and other religions. All are given equal importance in our group and culture.
